Eugene W. Schmidt, 85, of the town of Scott, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth, where he had been a resident for about one year.

He was born April 6, 1925, in the town of Osceola, the son of the late Otto and Irma (Wittenberg) Schmidt, and attended district schools.

On June 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joyce Stahl at Beechwood Evangelical Reform Church in Beechwood. Eugene was employed by the West Bend Aluminum Co. before going into the excavating business with his brother, Jerome.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dundee.

Those Eugene leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce; a brother, Elmer (Lois) Schmidt of the town of Scott; two sisters, Phyllis (Howard) Narges of Waucousta and Carol (Kenneth) Koth of Kewaskum; two sisters-in-law, Gayl Schmidt of Beechwood and Beverly (Louis) Luedtke of Beechwood; one brother-in-law, Donald (Opal) Stahl of Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin “Mike” (Lillie) Schmidt and Jerome Schmidt and a sister, Sylvia (William) Burke.

Funeral services for Eugene will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dundee. The Rev. Richard Schliewe will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the church Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church are appreciated.
