Marshall wins seventh straight PSA crown

PLYMOUTH – Marshall Signs continued its dominance in local women’s softball by winning a Plymouth Softball Association title for the seventh straight year.

The PSA playoffs were held at the Quit Qui Oc Athletic Complex last month and included all of the men’s and women’s teams. The teams were seeded based on their regular-season finishes.

Marshall beat Rhine Auto, 10-7, in the finals of the Women’s National League North Division playoffs. The victory capped off a perfect season for Marshall which chalked up a 16-0 record.

Also successfully defending their championships were Re/Max Realty in the Men’s Continental League North Division and Neumann Plumbing in the Men’s Continental South. Re/Max, the No. 4 seed, outslugged No. 7-seeded Sargento Foods in the finals, 20-11. Re/Max pounded regular-season winner and top-seeded City Club in the semifinals, 16-1.

Top-seeded Neumann defeated Brown Bottle, 16-8, in the championship game to finish 15-2.

Prima captured its second consecutive men’s title – winning the Men’s American West as the No. 4 seed. Prima, the Men’s American East champion in 2009, downed Cain’s Construction in the finals, 13-5.

The other league champions are Liermann Construction in the Men’s American East Division; Community Bank, Women’s National South; B & B Motor Sports, Men’s Federal League; and Rhine Auto in the Men’s Continental East.

Liermann, the No. 3 seed, edged regular-season champion Hickory Lawn Dairy in the title matchup, 6-5. Community Bank, the top seed, finished the season 17-0 with a 7-3 victory over Nap’s Place/All Dolled Up in the finals.

Top-seeded B & B pounded Steiner Heating in the championship game, 24-12. B & B also carried the hot bats in the semifinals – thumping Antonio’s, 20-5. Rhine, the No. 4 seed, won a wild one over Dave Wuesterbarth Roofing in the finals, 30-18.
