Tigers have good experience

HOWARDS GROVE – Youthful enthusiasm and confidence boost the Howards Grove Tigers’ cross country hopes this season.

The Tigers return a combined 10 letter winners for the boys and girls teams, plus head coach Gary Kalk has a nice group of talented and promising young runners.

“The potential exists for the boys team to be very successful. The girls’ numbers are up and so will the talent level,” said Kalk.

“I believe the girls will surprise some people this season. Keep an eye on Cassie Marver. She has definite state potential.”

Kalk said health will be a key factor in the teams’ success.

The Tigers finished fourth in the 2009 Central Lakeshore Conference boys meet and last in the girls field. Cedar Grove-Belgium is the defending boys and girls champion. Kalk said Sheboygan Lutheran is his favorite to win the CLC boys and girls meets.
