Recreation Department wrestling programs set

The Sheboygan Falls Recreation Department has announced its wrestling programs for the upcoming winter season.

Children in first through fourth grade are invited to participate in the youth wrestling program.

The program is designed to help youngsters develop an understanding of the sport of wrestling and have fun learning the fundamentals and wrestling holds.

Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:10 to 4:30 p.m. The program will run from Thursday, Oct. 21 to Thursday, Nov. 11, at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School.

The cost of the program is $5. All participants will receive a team T-shirt.

The pre-school and kindergarten wrestling program is designed to give kids an opportunity to have fun learning the fundamentals of wrestling.

Games and exercises are designed to improve balance, coordination and strength. Practices are slated on Mondays, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. The program will run from Nov. 22 to Dec. 20, in the Sheboygan Falls High School wrestling room.

Those interested in competitive wrestling can register for the Sheboygan Falls traveling wrestling team.

The traveling wrestling team will practice two times per week and enter wrestling tournaments in the area. The program starts on Tuesday, Nov. 23, and will run through March.

First-time registrants should contact coach Fred Brown at 467-7827. A parent meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the SFHS wrestling room to go over program information, including practice and competition dates.
