Falcons take fifth, sixth at Cougars Invite

by Steve Ottman

CAMPBELLSORT – The Sheboygan Falls Falcons girls cross country team took fifth place and boys finished sixth at the Cougar Invitational hosted by Campbellsport Thursday, Oct. 7.

Nicole Bartel led the girls team with an eighth-place finish and Jake Hucke came in eighth for the boys. Lucas LaCrosse didn’t run due to injury.

Falcons’ coach Tiffany Otte felt that if LaCrosse would have competed, Falls could have recorded a third-place finish.

Junior Rachel Miley earned the Runner of the Week Award for the girls team. Miley has been steadily improving the last two weeks. She ran the 4K in 20.23 at the Sheboygan County Meet, which was her new personal record, 20.59 at Slinger, and 21.00 at Campbellsport.

Miley is also a sprinter and long/triple jumper on the Falcons’ track and field team.

Freshman Mitchell Lambrecht was the Runner of the Week for the boys squad. Lambrecht has been very consistent since the beginning of the season at the Green Bay Relays.

He has been registering times in mid-22s to 23 in six of the seven meets from Green Bay through Campbellsport.
